"Art is a human
activity,
consisting in
this, that one
man
consciously, by
means of
external signs,
hands on to
others feelings
he has worked
through, and
other people are
infected by
these feelings
and also
experience
them."

1st Annual Art for MARC
An evening event celebrating the integration of arts and science

Please Join us on
Tuesday, August 31, 2010
5:00-9:00 p.m.
University of New England Art Gallery

Join us for this festive gala event with an exhibition of original art created by area
artists that are inspired by our ocean environment.
The 1st Annual Art for MARC silent art auction and reception will feature original art
from a variety of talented artists whose work is inspired by their passion for the
environment. Through this reception, we hope to raise awareness of and support for
marine mammals and the waters they call home.

These original pieces will be sold through a silent auction with 50 percent of the
proceeds from the evening benefiting UNE Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center
(MARC), Maine’s only marine animal rehabilitation center, and 50 percent of the
proceeds to the artists.

Many of these exceptional pieces of art will be featured in MARC’s 2011 calendar,
note cards and postcards.
